Artist Statement

Current works focus on historic, pre-historic and 20th Century Americana "roadside attractions". Traveling the country's back roads I've found subject matter from the countries oral tradition days and "left overs" from the time before there was the national interstate highway program of the '60's. These images, combined with hand coloring, have provided direction in my work reminiscent of picture postcards of the '50's.

These are limited edition archival quality traditional black & white gelatin silver selenium toned photographs. I've recently started to produce "hybrid" images that are scanned from negatives and printed as archival quality pigment ink prints.

I personally print each photo using traditional black and white silver based processing on fiber based paper, toning the prints in a selenium toning solution for image permanence. Some of my photos include handcoloring small areas of the photograph which adds visual depth to the images
